Obstacle Collision Avoidance System (OCAS)

OCAS Inc. - Obstacle Collision Avoidance Systems - is the first and only FAA tested and approved Audio Visual Warning System (AVWS) in the National Airspace.

As the first Audio Visual Warning System installed in the US and Canada, OCAS is setting new standards in obstruction marking safety with an active recognition system capable of delivering both visual and audible warnings to flight crews approaching communication, transmission and generation assets deemed as air obstacles per the FAA AC 70/7460-1K.

OCAS uses a low power ground based radar to provide detection and tracking of an aircraft's proximity to an obstacle. This capability allows the visual warning lights to remain passive until an aircraft is detected and known to be tracking on an unsafe heading. This leaves the nighttime sky free of unnecessary light pollution thus decreasing public annoyance issues while improving the environmental habitat. OCAS is also currently the only obstacle marking system approved by the International Dark Sky Association.

OCAS is operational in the US, Canada and Norway and is dramatically improving air safety for both aviators and the owners of ground based obstructions.
